Do you think that Seal's OK?
by Jo added 2005-03-15
I was finally here and could not have been more excited to have been chosen for this unbelievable adventure - I was going to study the great white shark in South Africa!
Desert Isles of the Coral Sea
by Walter Starck added 2005-03-08
It was one of those places where the forces which govern life seem to come to a focus of preternatural beauty and intensity. I stood in a small grassy field. It was bounded by a dazzling band of coral sand. Crystalline aquamarine shallows grading into turquoise surrounded the islet. Farther out, a broad shallow reef flat fashioned a skirt of many colors terminating in a hemline of sparkling white breakers. Beyond, an endless sea of indigo blue velvet spread out to the horizon. Life was everywhere.
Never forget your camera.

This is my 8th year as a diver. My patch of underwater heaven is in Beautiful Moreton Bay and surrounding waters, including Curtin Artifical Reef, Flinders reef (Moreton Bay Marine Park), Hutchinson Shoal, Henderson's Reef, Megs Reef (Gotham City) and other amazing sites, too many to name.
The Big Leap
by Scuba Diver Australasia added 2005-02-21
With several reputable brands producing entry-level digital SLRs (DSLRs) at a very competitive price, a number of underwater photographers currently using consumer or prosumer cameras are now thinking of upgrading their current set-up. But stop! Before you make the big leap, just read these few words of hard-earned wisdom.
Incredible Fiji
by Scuba Diver Australasia added 2005-02-21
Blue Lagoon, Castaway, Savage Islands, Anacondas ... names that evoke impressions of aquamarine water, waving coconut palms, white sand beaches, secret gardens, hidden lakes, swift rivers, waterfalls, high mountains and raw adventure.
Galapagos - Mystery of Mysteries
by Scuba Diver Australasia added 2005-02-21
"The bountiful sea rumbled and roared under constant grey skies while the islands slumbered, their summits shrouded in mist, the lowlands leafless, dormant and salt scoured." Tui De Roy.
Wet Nurse to a Dragon

"If we go into the ocean often enough, one day it will show you its true wonders."
Great Manta Encounters
by Scuba Diver Australasia added 2005-02-21
There should be ballads, poetry and overtures written for mantas...in our ocean world, they are the epitome of grace.
Sydney, Above and Below
by Scuba Diver Australasia added 2005-02-20
Sydney is, in my view, Australia's most breathtaking city. Flying over the harbour is always a great sight when returning home from a trip.
Dancing with Manta's
by LynneW added 2005-02-10
This is a bit of a 'girly' story, but it was just how I felt after our dive yesterday at Stradbroke Island. I have been diving since 1981 and instructing since 2000 and have found that I never, ever get bored with the wonderful world under the waves!
Rain and Reef Experience
by AlexH added 2005-02-10
Escaping the Pommie winter, we flew into Cairns and of course I wanted to get straight out for a look around the Great Barrier Reef.
Australia Day 2005
by Kath added 2005-01-29
It seemed appropriate that we go diving at Kurnell on Australia Day.....
Fish out of water
by kerryb added 2005-01-27

I have a confession to make: I am an addict, addicted to diving. Some people may call it an obsession, but for me it's just a love of the ocean and all the things within it.

The Sydney Pygmy Pipehorse
by Ákos Lumnitzer added 2004-12-14
I thought my eyes were deceiving me. All I could make out was a little white fish resembling a seahorse, no bigger than a 50-cent piece. Yet it was so elaborately disguised I literally bumped into it head first.....
Lionfish City
by Scuba Stu added 2004-11-29
As an OWSI you have courses where you have entire classes of struggler's where your students struggle with even the most basic skills (no, that's your snorkel not your reg...), and courses of fish (well, we seem to have finished a little early today...)
