Asian Diver is now part of the group of magazines under Asian Geographic Magazines Pte Ltd that includes the other dive publication, Scuba Diver AustralAsia.
“I do not see this as a conflict of interest, but rather an expansion of the scope of content we can provide our readers,” says John Thet, publisher of Asian Geographic Magazines Pte Ltd.
Asian Diver is going to get a major facelift and shift in its editorial content. Aiming to boost the dive industry further, the magazine hopes to work with the dive professionals to promote continuing education, include a technical diving column and feature stories directed at the leaders in the industry. These include the dive agencies, equipment manufacturers, dive operators and shops, and especially the dive masters and instructors – responsible for promoting the sport and encouraging advancing certifications.
“By directing our focus primarily towards developing the industry from its roots, we are encouraging divers to become more knowledgeable about their sport, and inevitably further enhance awareness and safety,” Mr Thet says. “We will finally be catering to the needs of the dive professionals, and at the same time provide the newer divers a glimpse into the ‘other side’ of diving.”
Asian Diver, continuing with issue 103, will be launched at the Malaysian International Dive Expo (MIDE) in Kuala Lumpur on July 3, 2009.
